I'm Brittany, a 24 year old fitness fanatic who is completely new to the blogging world. The bright idea to blog came to me one day while I was at my internship last summer. My friends are always coming to me for advice on working out so I thought why not create a blog so that I can share my wisdom with the whole world haha.
Growing up I was a very active. I was always outside doing something around the farm, helping my dad in the garden, riding my bike, or one of my ponies. I dabbled in gymnastics, ballet, tap, jazz, field hockey and basketball. Once I got older I hung up my saddle and found my true passions: volleyball and softball. I continued to play basketball because it was a good way to stay in shape between seasons. Basketball is actually the main reason I am who I am today.
One summer during an All-Star game, I injured my knee sliding into second base. After spending three months in physical therapy, I was discharged and allowed to try out for volleyball. I had a great season and was loving high school. During basketball season, I tore my meniscus during an epic game against our rivals. This unfortunate experience changed my life forever. I had surgery on my left knee March 10, 2003 and spent the following four months in physical therapy. This is when I realized I wanted to become a physical therapist.
Fast forward to senior year. Time to apply to college! Knowing that I wanted to be a physical therapist, I applied to schools that had pre-PT programs. My number 1 school was Towson University. I'll never forget the day I was in Wall-Mart and my mom called me and told me I was accepted. I screamed out of excitement and then yelled at her for opening the letter!
I spent 5 years as a Towson Tiger and changed my major three times. At Towson, I played club volleyball, was an orientation leader, and president of Zeta Tau Alpha. By junior year I realized PT school was not happening. Though my resume was loaded with extra curricular activities, my GPA wasn't going to cut it. I've always been fascinated with the heart and decided to explore cardiac-rehab. I intern-ed at Union Memorial Hospital my senior year and fell in love. After spending 5 years at Towson, I was burnt out and knew I wanted to take some time off before going back to school. The summer of 2012 I interned with Corporate Fitness Works and fell in love again. I'm proud to say I now hold a bachelors degree in exercise science form Towson University and am employed by Corporate Fitness Works as a program coordinator.
Thanks for visiting my blog!
