December 16th I put my feelers out to see how many people were interested in participating in a Whole 30 with me. Over forty people, some from other states, expressed interest and we began to prep. I don't mean meal prep, I mean we prepared our mind, our kitchen, and our loved ones for what was to come (headaches, tears, cravings, hanger).
January 1st we hit the grocery store and spent the whole first day of the year roasting vegetables, burning vegetables, chopping, dicing, and washing lots of pots and pans. We took our before pictures and put away the scale. The very first day of the Whole 30 was a snow day for many. Most snow days are spent drinking alcohol and binge eating on the couch while watching episode after episode of (fill in the blank with your favorite show). We had more snow the first weekend so I challenged people to use this time to exercise, clean, meal plan ANYTHING other then falling off the wagon.Week two people were starting to see a decrease in headaches and noticing more energy. Personally I was still trying to master how to make a poached egg. Starting our third week I hosted a Potluck. I tried doing this last round but snow interfered with those plans. This really helped relight the Whole30 flame for me. Along with participating in the Whole 30 I decided to make all of my meals so by this time I was starting to burn out.
I will say this being my third round was the easiest yet. I had no slip ups and never once licked the peanut butter off my fingers while preparing the Kong for the pup. Along with this great 30 day clean eating challenge I did a 21 day Yoga challenge. As you'll see in my pictures below that even my posture improved. Here are some of my "non-scale victories":
- No more sugar dragon
- Decrease in my resting Heart Rate
- MY KNEES DON'T HURT!
- Wake up well rested
- No 3 PM crash
- No headaches
- No bloating
And here's what you really came for.... the pictures..... oh and the poundage lost was between 12-15... I forgot to weigh myself in the beginning. Whoops.
Left is Post Whole 30
